White Crowned Sparrow

 

Zonotrichia leucophrys

"1st Winter: (Sep-Apr) Like ad. but black and white head stripes replaced by grayish-brown central crown-stripe and eyebrow and rich brown lateral crown-stripes; bill pale pinkish to yellowish" (Donald & Lillian Stokes. The Stokes Field Guide to the Birds of North America, p. 690)

This bird is between the 1st year and the adult.
