1934
On May 14, 1934, The First National
Bank of Groveton was liquidated.
Apparently, Zach Devine planned ahead and applied for the position
of Postmaster in Groveton.
Before his bank closed, he had other employment, which he held
until 1936.
1936 - 1942
Devine had served in World War
I, and his health was not good. In 1937, he left Groveton for
a VA Hospital in Legion, TX in Kerr County. It seems that tuberculosis
had become chronic. Z. F. Devine remained at the facility more
than five years until his death in 1942, age 47.
He never married.
