Variegated Meadowhawk
Sympetrum corruptum
"This is the most widespread
meadowhawk in the region. It is largely tan or gray, its face
tan in young males and females ... The thorax has two oblique
lateral white stripes, each with a distinct round yellow spot
at its lower end."
The above is a male. Cf. Abbott's
Plate 62b.
The female
differs some in color. Cf. Plate 62c in Abbott's book.
While absent from the checklist
of Odonana Central, the Variegated Meadowhawk does appear on
the now discontinued checklist from USGS.
