Red-Banded Hairstreak
Calycopis cecrops
Some Red-Banded Hairstreaks have
a narrow red ventral band.
Notice that this butterfly and the
other Red-Banded Hairstreak share in common a colorless area on
the interior of the black spot between the tails.
The Dusky-Blue Hairstreaks fill that area with red-orange. Compare this specimen
with the Dusky-Blue.
