Long-Tailed Skipper
Urbanus proteus
"A number of skippers with
long hind wing tails occur in tropical America, and several range
northward at least occasionally to Texas' Rio Grande Valley.
Urbanus proteus, the long-tailed skipper, is the
most abundant and widely distributed of these species in the
United States. Dark brown above with light spots on the forewing,
it is paler below with darker hindwing bands ... An uncommon
but regular visitor to the Houston area."
