"Both sexes are dark brownish black above and below, the female with two small, diffuse white spots on the forewing. These are in addition to a short line of three tiny pale dots near the wingtip that appear on many skippers. The hindwing below carries a curved row of indistinct pale spots. The male has a well-formed black stigma on the forewing ... In our population, orange scales adorn the butterfly's head and palps."
