"The dusky-blue hairstreak has a larger red-orange cap on the black spot between the tails than does the red-banded hairstreak, the extent of the orange exceeding that of the black. The red-orange median band is also narrower on the dusky blue hairstreak, particularly on the forewing, where it thins dramatically."

Notice that Red-Banded Hairstreak is similar to the one above, but it lacks the red-orange cap on the black spot.
