"Below, the amymone is pale brownish orange with bands of creamy white ... Mestra amymone is the only member of its genus to occur regularly in Texas and the U.S. ... The North American Butterfly Association recently adopted "common mestra," noting pronunciation difficulties with the traditional name" (John L. Tveten & Gloria Tveten, Butterflies of Houston & Southeast Texas, p.166).
