Lesser Yellowlegs

Tringa flavipes

"Medium-sized gracefully proportioned sandpiper with long legs, slim body, long thin neck, and medium-length thin bill ... about the length of the head and always straight ... Legs bright yellow or orange ...." (The Stokes Field Guide to the Birds of North America, 238)

The Lesser Yellowlegs lacks the black bars on the tail that the Solitary Sandpiper has.
