Song Sparrow

Melospiza melodia

"The large, heavily streaked song sparrow ranges throughout Texas from October until April ... its grayish-brown upperparts are streaked with black. Heavy streaking on the light sides and breast merges into a prominent central breast spot. Broad grayish eyebrows and dark whisker marks bordering the white throat also aid identification."

Alsop in Birds of Texas (p. 493) also notes "pinkish legs and feet."

The Cornell Lab All About Birds webpage has this information on Song Sparrows..
