Red Shouldered Hawk
Buteo lineatus
"It is a year-round resident
in the eastern half of Texas ... Adults are brown above with
reddish barring across the light breast ... In flight, the red-shouldered
hawk displays rufous
wing-linings and pale crescent-shaped patches at the base
of the primaries. The dark tail crossed by narrow white bands
is also diagnostic."
