Ammodramus savannarum

"Brown to buffy head, pale central crown stripe; dark postocular stripe; buffy wash on white underparts, particularly on chest, sides, flanks, and crissum; lacks streaking on under parts." (Alsop, Birds of Texas, p. 488)

Sibley adds, "Intricately patterned rufous, black, and gray above; purplish nape; complete white eye-ring; large bill; plain buffy below" (The Sibley Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America, p. 478)
