Eastern Phoebe
Sayornis phoebe
"This medium-sized, seven-inch
flycatcher is brownish gray above and slightly darker on the
head, wings and tail. The white underparts are washed with pale
olive on the sides and breast. In the fall and winter plumage,
many birds have a strong yellow
wash below ... The eastern Phoebe lacks the distinct light
wing-bars of the smaller wood pewees and the eye-ring of the
Empidonax flycatchers ..."
This bird is very similar to the
Eastern Wood-Pewee.
The Eastern Phoebe has no noticeable wing-bars nor an eye-ring,
and the coloring of their bills
differs.
