Blue Grosbeak

Guiraca caerulea

"The breeding male is deep blue with two prominent rusty wing bars ... their preferred habitats ... [are] tangled brush and brambles in overgrown fields ..."

These birds are much more shy than their cardinal relatives. This one is recognized by the rust color on the wings.

This is a female Blue Grosbeak.

This is first winter Blue Grosbeak.
