Black-Bellied Whistling Duck
Dendrocygna autumnalis
This is a different pair of Black-Bellied
Whistling Ducks that have nested on the same pond. There are at
least 12 ducklings here.

in The TOS Handbook of Texas Birds (P. 1) state, "Black-bellied
Whistling Ducks continue to expand their range northward and
eastward and are now found north to Brazos and McLennan Counties
and locally to Tarrant and Dallas Counties. Isolated breeding
populations are also established on the southern Rolling Plains
around Brownwood, Brown County." And now Houston County.
